Richard Lucero and his sidekick, McGruff presented a fun-filled program at the regular meeting of the Sunrise Optimist Club recently. Richard, a 22-year veteran of the police department, now retired, explained how the McGruff program works with the youth of Roswell and his involvement with the program. Lucero also heads up the Neighborhood Watch program for Roswell and has a child’s photo and fingerprint identification project as well. If you are interested in getting involved with any one of these three programs, contact Richard through the Neighborhood Watch.

The Sunrise Optimist Club of Roswell’s main objective is to make our community a better place for our youth to grow up. If you want to know more about the Sunrise Optimist speakers, our club or its projects, contact membership chairman Roger K. Burnett or join us Wednesdays at 7 a.m., at the Red Onion Restaurant. The Sunrise Optimist Club of Roswell invites community speakers to share their programs and knowledge with the club during its meetings.
