Fifty Washington Avenue Elementary School fourth- and fifth-graders who scored proficient or advanced on their 2017-2018 standardized tests, known as the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC), were treated to a catered lunch Thursday. Principal Amanda Arnold and teachers served students honored at the PARCC Proficiency Banquet, held in the school cafeteria. Arnold said the school is proud of all students but saw the lunch as a way to reward high achievement and encourage others to do their best. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
