Dorothy Herrera-Gomez, daughter of Jose Herrera, poses next to the Eve of Saint John, an egg tempera on board painting by Peter Hurd that she modeled for in the 1960s. The painting has been used for many posters and other promotional items for the Magical & Real: Henriette Wyeth & Peter Hurd, A Retrospective show at the Roswell Museum and Art Center, which ends mid-September. Herrera-Gomez made an appearance at the RMAC’s ‘Brown Bag’ lunch and lecture series on Wednesday. Dr. Andrew Walker, director at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth, gave a lecture focused on this painting. (Alison Penn Photo)
