Memorial for artist Peter Rogers today

A memorial for the artist Peter Rogers of San Patricio, New Mexico, who died May 28, will be held in the Bassett Auditorium of the Roswell Museum and Art Center this afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Rogers was an accomplished and inspired painter originally from England. His many iterations of the mystical Quest painting series, depicting the inner journey of human beings toward wholeness and union with God, have been cherished by many seekers here in the United States and around the world.

There will be an opportunity to share memories of Peter’s life and personal reflections on his work during the memorial.

A section of East Bland Street will be closed Monday and Tuesday as Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway makes emergency repairs to its railroad crossing located on East Bland.

The work will result in East Bland being closed to through-traffic between South Garden and South Atkinson avenues from Monday at 8:30 a.m. until Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Local traffic into and out of areas along East Bland between those two avenues still will be permitted. However, traffic will not be able to cross the railroad crossing, which is located between South Mulberry and South Elm avenues.
