A security training exercise was the cause of an early morning fire south of Roswell Tuesday that sent plumes of smoke into the air.

The fire at Mistic Inc., an air center-based security and intelligence business located at 122 Will Rogers Road, started at 9 a.m. when a wall of tires accidentally caught fire while personnel were preparing for a security training exercise, according to a post on the Roswell Fire Department’s Facebook page.

The RFD and other county fire departments responded and quickly got the blaze under control. According to the post, there were no injuries or damage to nearby structures as a result of the fire.

“The fire was actually not too significant, but since it was tires burning, they created a lot of black smoke that made it look perhaps more serious than it was,” the RFD’s post states.
