Another Angel has gone home.

Valentina Mendoza, 100 years of age, of Roswell, NM, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, surrounded by loved ones.

Valentina was born in Arabella, NM, on September 21, 1918. She was a life-time resident of Roswell. Valentina retired from St. Mary’s Hospital.

Surviving to cherish the memory of Valentina are two sons: Danny and Janie Mendoza of Roswell, and Richard (Dickie) and Sarah Mendoza of Antwerp, Ohio; four daughters: Lucia Stacy of Roswell, Lucilla Stensrude of Vancouver, Washington, Cindy and Mike Meyer of Roswell, and Lorina Alvarez of Roswell.

Preceding Valentina in death were one grandson and two granddaughters; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rafael Padilla; one brother and four sisters.

There will be a Rosary at 7:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Wednesday, October 3, 2018, there will be a Mass at 1:00 PM, at St. John’s Church. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Valentina will be dearly missed by her family.

Somewhere in my heart, beneath all my grief and pain, is a smile I still wear at the sound of your name. The precious word was “Mother,” she was my world, you see. But now my heart is breaking, because she’s no longer with me.

Pall bearers chosen will be her grandsons: Eddie Stacy, Danny Stacy, Max Stacy, Robbie Whitaker, Scott Whitaker, and Juan Alvarez.
