On Friday, September 28, 2018, Rito Castaneda passed away in his home on Calumet Road, in Roswell, New Mexico. There will be a Viewing at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary recited by Gilbert Espinoza, 7:00 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, October 4, 2018, 2:00 PM. John Melendez will be officiating. On December 11, 1961, Rito was born to Basilio Castaneda and Nancy Cano in Artesia, New Mexico. His memory will live on, for each one of his many good deeds. “Take it to Buddy, he will fix it.” The only thing this man can’t fix is our broken hearts, as his new life forever begins.

Those left to cherish memories of Rito are his wife of thirty-seven years, Teresa Rodriguez; oldest daughter, Crystal Ann; sons-in-law, Jay Melendez and Jaime Marin; ten grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-grandson; three aunt’s; three uncle’s; three brothers: Basilio Jr, Benino, and Alfonso; sisters-in-law: Mary Susan and Patricia; one sister, Sulema Rodriguez; three brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; neighbors: Faye Silva, Mike, Eppy, Steve and Barbara; Uncle Steve and Leboy; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved; and all his neighbors.

Preceding Rito in death were his parents; youngest daughter, Savannah; best friend, Jeffery McClain; and niece, Adriane Shorty Martinez.

Rito’s last ride will be Thursday, where he will be reunited with his daughter.
