LeRoy Sanchez Obituary: Lovingly written by his family

LeRoy Sanchez, 72, was born on August 26, 1946, to Benito P and Geronima (Geri) Sanchez.  On a very special day, Monday, October 1, 2018, Leroy called his loving family and loved ones to say goodbye, this being the birthday of his mother, Geronima Matta Sanchez. He knew the good Lord was calling him home.  LeRoy left to be with the good Lord, Jesus in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 2, 2018.

LeRoy proudly served his country in the United States Army with an E7 ranking, voluntarily signing up to serve his country in 1968.  He retired in 1991, after serving twenty-three years.  From 1968-1970, LeRoy served in Vietnam.  He earned the Military Justice, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Code of Conduct, Basic Army Admin., National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Benefit of Honorable Discharge. He was a legal specialist for seventeen years, and an Administrative Specialist for twenty years.  During those years, LeRoy also served as a paralegal for the JAG Legal Department.

Those left to cherish LeRoy’s memory are his sons: Johnny Ray and wife Ramona Sanchez, Tomas JJ Sanchez and fiancée Melissa Torres, Edward Jose Sanchez, Fabian Morales and fiancée Cristal, Matthew Morales and fiancée Maryanne, and James Morales; brother Efrain Sanchez and wife, Cecilia; sisters: Rose May (Nena) and husband Jr Lucero, Elvira (Vero) and Sammy Lucero; sisters-in-law: Josie Sanchez, and Sara Sanchez; maternal aunt, Nellie and husband Lupe Reyes; mother of his children, Antonia Morales; grandkids: Jeanette Renee, Johnny Ray II, Joshua Ryan, Jacob Richard Sanchez, Krisyenthia, Kassandra, Daniel R. Marrujo and wife Kayla, Tomas JJ, Angel Marie, Arabella, Angelina and Justin Alejandro,  Edward Jose Jr., Eric Jericho Sanchez; twenty-two great-grandchildren, who were his pride and joy; and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Preceding LeRoy in death were his parents: Benito and Geri Sanchez; brothers: Eliver and wife Victoria “Vickie” Sanchez, Eloy Sanchez, and Esmael “Maile” Sanchez; sisters: Elizabeth “Lisa” Vaquera, Erlinda Sedillo; and grandson, Joseph “JoJo” Sanchez.

Those chosen as Honorary Pallbearers are: nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be: Jacob Sanchez, Antonio Morales, Justin Alejandro, Eric Sanchez, James Morales, and Edward Sanchez Jr.

There will be a Viewing on Friday, October 5, 2018, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Living Hope Apostolic Center, 1207 S. Kentucky, Roswell, NM, on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 1:00 PM. Pastor Lawrence Sanchez will be officiating. Interment will be held at General Douglas L. McBride Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 1:00 PM. Please take a moment and share a fond memory or kind expression of sympathy for LeRoy’s family at andersonbethany.com.

Friends and Family are welcomed to go by 2504 Coronado Drive (off Country Club Road,) Roswell, NM, where LeRoy’s family will be gathering.
