Downtown merchants have chosen “Jazz It Up!” as the theme for October’s First Friday event in honor of the city’s Jazz Festival to occur Oct. 17-21.

First Fridays, organized each month by MainStreet Roswell, offer food trucks, musical entertainment, nonprofit booths and extended hours for downtown businesses, many of which offer special discounts for the night.

Events this Friday start at 5 p.m. at Reischman Park, when people can make thank you cards that will be given to veterans later this fall. Live music by Nova Rush and Kyle Torres begins at 6 p.m., and Chavo’s food truck will be there to serve street tacos.

Other special activities planned include free kids’ crafts at Barringer’s Blossom Shop and The Gallery and Main Street Arts. The art venue also will have live music with Matthew Palmer, a henna artist doing tattoos, and some of their featured artists available to meet visitors.
