Character Counts! In Chaves County will continue its annual tradition of showing appreciation to local law enforcement with the upcoming Honor the Badge event.

This year’s event will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Chaves County Administration Building and is sponsored by Pioneer Bank.

Honor the Badge enables the community to honor and thank all those who wear a badge and let them know how much their sacrifice and dedication to protect us in Chaves County are appreciated.

Nominations are sent in from local police, fire and sheriff department leaders.

Candidates are reviewed and selected by a committee made up of individuals with Character Counts! throughout the community. Each nominated individual represents the best of first responders, with a maximum of eight individuals being honored.
