Roswell Police are working to identify a woman who took more than $200 worth of merchandise from a local store and nearly struck a store employee with her vehicle Saturday.

The incident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Family Dollar store in the 900 block of Second Street, according to a press release from the RPD.

The female suspect entered the store and filled a shopping cart with items before walking out of the store without paying for them, the release states.

A male store employee then approached the vehicle as the woman was in the driver’s seat and proceeded to remove of some of the items from the back of the vehicle, the release states.

The woman then shouted at the employee to get out of her vehicle and shifted into reverse, while the employee continued to reach into the vehicle to reclaim the stolen merchandise. He then got out of the way to avoid being struck by the vehicle.

The woman continued to back up the vehicle, hitting the shopping cart before exiting the parking lot, according to the release.

Some of the stolen goods were recovered, but others could not be taken out of the vehicle in time.

Video surveillance cameras in the store captured an image of the suspect — a white female in her 40s or 50s with light blond or brown hair tied in a ponytail at the time. She was wearing blue medical scrubs at the time of the incident, according to the release.

The release states the vehicle license plate was turquoise and included the numbers 041.
