A new Hilton hotel will be constructed in Roswell, the city has announced.

The hotel is going up at 700 N. Virginia Ave., which intersects with East Eighth Street, according to information in a city news release issued Friday night.

A groundbreaking is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at the site, with city officials and hotel company representatives to be in attendance.

Construction will begin soon, according to city spokesman Todd Wildermuth, with completion expected in about nine months.

Ranchers Group of Companies LLC, based in Edmond, Oklahoma, is the general contractor on the project, which will be an extended stay hotel.

The hotel is planned to be about 52,000 square feet and to have 82 rooms over four floors, according to Juan Carlos Ramirez, chief operating officer with the Ranchers Group.

A call to a Hilton corporate communications officer was not returned by press time. According to its corporate website, Hilton Worldwide Holdings Inc., a publicly traded company based in McLean, Virginia, includes 15 hotel brands and 5,500 properties and 894,000 rooms in 109 countries. Most of the properties are owned and operated by independent companies. Another Hilton brand is Hampton Inn and Suites, which has a location on North Main Street.

Chaves County property records show that the proposed hotel land is owned by Roswell Hotel Co. LLC of Watsonville, California. The members of that company include Gurvinder Singh, Iqbal Singh and Amolok Singh, according to New Mexico Secretary of State records. Gurvinder Singh is also part of the GB Hotel Group of Watsonville, which built the Holiday Inn Express on North Main Street and Military Heights in 2017.
