Local youth gather for a Chaves County 4-H open house Saturday at the Chaves County Extension Service office on Southeast Main and Chisum streets. The county has eight clubs, which had a count last year of 296 youth ages 5 to 18, says 4-H Extension Agent Andrea Stapp, left. About 100 adult volunteers also participate with the program. The open house shared information about the local clubs, statewide 4-H activities, Extension Service leadership and other topics. The youth are, from left, Jacob Spear, Caden Brink, Caleb Spear (in hat), Janice Forrest, Jonathon Forrest and James Forrest. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
