Services: A Memorial Service will be held at Christ’s Church, 2200 N. Sycamore, Roswell, New Mexico, on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, 3:30 PM.

On September 27, 1945, Lace was born to Houston Ray Johnson, Sr. and Alice Marie Johnson in Whitewright, Texas. She graduated from Bells High School in Bells, Texas, and attended Texas Lutheran University.

Lace married the love of her life, Jack Douglas Harrelson on October 27, 1966, in Seguin, Texas. They have owned and operated Happy Jack’s, in Roswell, for the past thirty-eight years.

Her love of beading eventually led to their business evolving into a full-service bead store, along with a used bookstore. Lace was an award-winning bead embroidery artist. Together with Jack, she developed a bead embroidery foundation – Lacy’s Stiff Stuff – that revolutionized the beading industry and is now sold worldwide. She and her daughter, Jackie, co-authored and self-published two books on bead embroidery.

Aside from her love of beading, she also enjoyed sewing, cooking, crochet, and gardening. She adored her family and friends. Lace was a graceful, warm “Southern” lady and her love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, was evident to all whom she encountered.

Harrelson, daughters: Stephanie Jones and husband, Marty and Jackie Oldfield and husband, Gary; grandson, David Jones and wife, Laura; great-granddaughters: Lucy, Lillian and Larissa Jones; brother, Houston Ray Johnson, Jr. and wife, Laverne; nieces and nephews: Jamila Miller, David Johnson, Jordan Garner, Amelia Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Kay Massicci and family of Dallas, Texas; and special cousin, Anjanette Deason.
