On behalf of Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell and New Mexico Military Institute, we would like to thank the voters of Chaves County who supported library Bond B and higher education Bond D on Nov. 6. Bond B passed by 62-percent in the county and more than 9,000 county voters (61 percent) said ‘yes’ to Bond D. Because of that support, our campuses, our students, and ultimately our community as a whole will benefit.
We would also like to thank the many service clubs and organizations who gave us the opportunity to speak to their members and provide information about Bonds B and D. We also appreciate the Roswell Daily Record’s articles about these issues on the ballot and other local media for giving us time to share information.
With these bond funds, we can now move forward with needed renovations to the Hagerman Barracks sink rooms and JRT/VMV/Hinkle Hall at NMMI and begin the renovation of the Automotive and Welding Technology facility at ENMU-Roswell.
Both of our campus public libraries, the Roswell Public Library and public school libraries in the county will also now receive funds to update collections, equipment and other resources.
We understand the voters have invested in our campuses and as good stewards we will keep the community informed of our progress on these projects.
We sincerely appreciate our friends in Chaves County and across the state. We value the trust you have placed in us as we work to maintain our facilities for the benefit of our students.
