A two-inch line off a 36” diameter water main has been leaking on West McGaffey Road and South Union Avenue. Roswell City Engineer Louis Najar said the leak became “severe” on Tuesday night. Todd Wildermuth, the city’s public information officer, said the street will be closed until further notice from east of South Union to Rancho Road, and the timeline for repair is uncertain. Najar said the city of Roswell’s water maintenance and transmission crew worked until 11 p.m. to turn the water down to repair the line, which was constructed in the 70s. Najar said the city crew continued with repairs on Wednesday and there is a chance the city may have to hire a specialty contractor if city crews are unable to resolve the issue. (Alison Penn Photo)
