Above: The Chaves County Board of Commissioners recognized the Midway Volunteer Fire Department and its chief, Capt. Ornell Fuller, on the group’s 35th anniversary during the commissioners’ Thursday meeting. Fuller has been the head of the department since its beginning, and several of his family members have served with the group over the years. The department now has 31 volunteers and responds to about 150 fire calls and 200 emergency calls each year.
