Rachel Ann Garcia, 71, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Please take a moment and share a fond memory or kind expression of sympathy for Rachel’s family at www.andersonbethany.com.

On December 7, 1946, Rachel, the youngest of two children, was born in Albuquerque, NM, to Victor Garcia and Tomasita Mirabal Garcia. She married Ramon Garcia in 1975. Rachel spent her professional life managing Ramon’s legal practice and as an interpreter in the courts. In addition to being remembered as an incredibly skilled interpreter, the lawyers, judges, clerks, secretaries, and all who encountered her, remember her as warm, funny, friendly, and always with a story to tell, a story that never stopped getting bigger every time she told it.

Rachel traveled extensively with her family and friends, taking cruises through the Caribbean, climbing waterfalls in Jamaica, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, eating tapas in Spain, and attending the opera in Santa Fe and Vienna. She also accompanied her mother-in-law on a pilgrimage to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, visited her sister-in-law in Boston, dined in the Eiffel Tower, toured London, attended the Detroit Auto Show, visited her son in Seattle, and her favorite trip, taking her grandchildren to Disneyland.

A fierce mother, Rachel, was incredibly protective and caring of her children, and would do anything to help them. She was a dedicated grandmother, constantly ready to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Rachel was always ready to let others know about how amazing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild were. She would talk about their progress, achievements, activities, and interests. Rachel was a true friend. Any of her friends that needed help knew they would receive it, usually accompanied by a glass of wine.

Ramon’s loving wife, Rachel was his best friend, truest companion, Country-Western dance partner, and greatest gift. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and will continue to inspire acts of love and to drive others toward accomplishing their dreams for as long as she’s remembered.
