Vendor Michelle Boye-Morris and shopper Mike Stewart take part Friday in weekend shopping at one of the smaller shopping venues in the city. The St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Holiday Bazaar has about 11 vendors selling a variety of hand-made gifts, from jewelry to blankets to potholders to magnets to paintings. Baked items also are on sale, with proceeds from those going to the church. This is the first year for the event, which continues from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the church, 2911 N. Main St. “There are a lot of really small vendors who can’t afford the $150 fee at the mall or convention center,” said organizer Coleta Tipps, who explained that the bazaar vendors are charged $30 to help the church cover costs. Some vendors, such as Boye-Morris, are new to the business of selling their crafts and art. Stewart, although a craftsman and former Santa, is only a visitor at this year’s bazaar.
