Kermitt Douglas Gray passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Kermitt was born on September 3, 1952 in Roswell, NM to Alvie Cornelius Gray and Mary Berneice Grisham Gray.

He was a lifetime resident of Roswell. He Graduated from Goddard High School. He worked for Levi Strauss, Nova Bus Company as a welder and custodian for Roswell Public Library.

Kermitt and his brother Rusty started playing guitar and drums and formed a band as teenagers. He later played part time on bass guitar at various nightclubs in Roswell.

Kermitt was a big lover for dogs. He bought his first dog, he named Snooper for 10 cents. Later on he had a dog named Luther that had about 12 puppies. A family member observed him at his home petting each little puppy on the head before putting them in their pen.

Kermitt was a member and Deacon of Washington Avenue Baptist Church where he played bass guitar in their band. He later played Bass guitar for Adventure Church.

He had many friends from his times of playing guitar at various clubs such as James King, SR, Ben Brown, Terry Bankston, Reggie Reval and Jeff Hudson who passed away before him. They are probably having a great reunion in Heaven making music.

Kermitt was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie Gray and Mary Grisham Gray, Daughter Tarinda Gray, Sister, Koleta (Bobby) Mayfield of Springfield, OR and Brother, Carl Glyn (Julie) Gray of Odessa, TX.

Kermitt married Cheryl Bell who was the mother of their children. He later married Janet Roper. Both wives have preceded Kermitt in death.

Those left to share his memory are son, Johnny Gray of Dallas, TX, Granddaughter, Joannah Gray, Great Grandson, Romeo and Great Granddaughter, Mireya all of Roswell, NM. Brothers Charles (Joyce) Gray of Enid, OK, John (Verla) Gray of Boonville, IA, George (Hilda) Gray of Aumsville, OR, Leroy (Joyce) Gray of Roswell, NM, Walter (Bernie) Gray of Mesa, AZ, Rusty (Pam) Gray of Roswell, NM, Sisters Lillie (Roy) Prescott of Abilene, TX and Sallie Silvestri of Roswell, NM. Also many Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends who loved him.

A Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
