John Elwood Huggins, II, 75, of College Station, Texas passed away at his residence Saturday, December 1, 2018.

John was born on October 30, 1943 in Arlington, Texas to John Elwood Huggins, Sr. and Tempa Belle Hicks Huggins. He was raised in Roswell, New Mexico. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 20 years and retired as Chief. He earned his Master’s degree and became a teacher for Broaddus ISD and taught there until he retired. He was a member of Bronson Masonic Lodge #1112.

John is survived by his sons, James Huggins of Highland Village, Texas and Jerald Huggins and wife, Hayley, of College Station, Texas; sisters, Elizabeth Day of Wills Point, Texas, DiAnne Parks of College Station, Texas, and Renee Bailey of Canton, Texas; grandchildren, Matthew, Riley-Grace, Brystol, Elle, John, Piper, and Wyatt Huggins; and nephews and nieces, Alan Parks, Johnny Parks, Todd Gaffron, Randy Liebe, and Ellen Orozco.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Evelyn Huggins.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Broaddus, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Barth officiating.

Burial will follow services in Pineland Cemetery, Maple St., Pineland, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers are Alan Parks, Johnny Parks, Todd Gaffron, Matthew Huggins, Randy Liebe, and Wes Kilcrease.
