Al was born October 30, 1932 in Roswell, NM to Albert Cecil Cooper and Cleota Hamner.

Al graduated from Roswell High School in 1950. He married his high school sweetheart, Tommie Jean Didlake, and began his training in electrical engineering while serving in the US Navy during the Korean War. His electronics career began with Philco, a pioneer in television broadcasting, which afforded him an opportunity to be part of NBC’s Wide Wide World, a 90-minute documentary series telecast live from 1955-1958 — the first international North American telecast in the history of the medium. In 1961, Al went to work for GTE Lenkurt in Washington DC, transferring to San Carlos, Calif in 1972. In 1974, Al & Tommie purchased Roswell Brake & Alignment and moved their family back to the place of their births. In 1982, Al & Tommie started Prime Time Christian Broadcasting (aka God’s Learning Channel), and in 1985 built the first full-power TV transmitter in southeast NM. Today, God’s Learning channel encompasses 5 full-power stations in New Mexico and West Texas and is broadcast nationwide via the Galaxy 19 satellite. Al leaves a legacy of loving Jesus and connecting the church to their biblical roots. His love for Israel and the Jewish people is legendary.
