City administration offices and certain other city facilities will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Day.

Some city services will have adjusted schedules for some of those holidays or the weeks in which they occur.

The Roswell Public Library, the Roswell Museum and Art Center, the Roswell Visitors Center, and the Adult and Recreation Center will each be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. The Museum and Art Center will also be closed New Year’s Eve since it is closed every Monday. The Adult and Recreation Center, on New Year’s Eve, will close early at 5 p.m.

The Spring River Park and Zoo will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, in line with it being closed every Tuesday. The zoo will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

City bus service and trash pickup will also be altered because of the holidays. Pecos Trails Transit will have buses in limited operation Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day. On those days, buses will be running only on Main Street. On Christmas Eve, the buses will run from 7:10 a.m. to 10:03 p.m. On New Year’s Day, the buses will run from 10:28 a.m. to 6:52 p.m. The buses do not run Christmas Day. They will run a normal schedule New Year’s Eve.

The Sanitation Department’s trash pickup for Christmas week and New Year’s week will be adjusted for a portion of the city. Areas south of Alameda Street plus areas east of Garden Avenue between Alameda and Second Street (normally picked up on Monday and Thursday) will remain on the normal pickup schedule during these holiday weeks. Areas north of Alameda (normally picked up on Tuesday and Friday) will have their trash containers picked up Wednesday and Friday those weeks.

Residents with individual roll-out containers must have them placed by the curb the night before the day of service or by 4 a.m. the day of service. The landfill will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Year’s Day.
