No need to wrap these gifts! Zayden Lovato is one of hundreds of local Head Start students given a free bike and helmet Wednesday on the last day of school before winter break. Desert Sun Auto Group has been donating bikes at holiday time to the preschool program for six years, according to Juanita Baiza, site supervisor for southeast New Mexico. Any of the 273 enrolled students in Roswell were able pick up some cool wheels, with girls’ and boys’ bikes delivered to both Roswell sites. Desert Sun employees are, from left, Josh Sosa, John Lujan and Freddie Sosa. The area Head Start program serves 3- and 4-year-olds in Roswell, Dexter, Hagerman, Artesia and Lovington. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
