Terri Garvey, an educator at the New Mexico Military Institute, gave a talk to the Sunrise Optimist Club recently about her trip to Peru and Machu Picchu this past summer.

Ms. Garvey explained the differences in shopping in Peru and the United States due to the barter system they employ. She explained how scary it was to walk the trails leading up to and around the city of Machu Picchu. Above all, she painted a picture of the magnificence of the building and wall construction of the century-old city. She gave a lot of facts and a very interesting account of her experience.

If you want to hear presentations from more of our community leaders, join us any Wednesday morning, 7 a.m., at the Red Onion restaurant. If you want to know more about the Sunrise Optimist Club and its projects to benefit the youth of Roswell, join us as well, or contact membership chairman Roger K. Burnett at 420-9420.
