Our beloved son, dad, and brother, William (Bill) Jay Brown, went home to his Heavenly Father on December 31, 2018. He was 47 years old.

Bill was born April 18, 1971 to Rick and Chris Brown in Lubbock. Three short years later, he became a proud brother to little sister Melissa. Bill attended Raintree Christian Church during his youth. He accepted Jesus as his Savior and was baptized in 1983. He attended school in Lubbock graduating from Monterey High School in 1989. After graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corp serving stateside and abroad in the Philippines for 2 years. While in the Philippines, Bill experienced the eruption of Mount Pinatubo and was one of the last Marines “to get on the ship” after the closure of Subic Bay Naval Air Base in 1992. He served his country for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1994. Bill had long desired to pursue law enforcement and soon went to work as a police officer for the Roswell Police Department. Bill served 20 distinguished years for the Roswell Police, retiring at the rank of Commander. He was anxious to get back to Texas as Lubbock was home. Bill accepted an opportunity to work as the Emergency Preparedness Manager for the State of Texas. He had recently been promoted to Program Manager for his department.

Bill loved life, loved his country, and enjoyed serving his fellow man. He loved hunting and fishing but most of his time here with us was spent serving others. His greatest source of pride were his children, son Morgan (19) of Artesia, New Mexico and daughter Mykayla (11) of Lubbock. His hopes, desires, and actions were always concentrated on the benefit and betterment of Morgan and Mykayla.

Bill will be forever missed, loved, and appreciated. Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Rickey and Chris Brown; son, Morgan Brown; daughter, Mykayla Brown; sister, Melissa Collier and husband, Scott and their children Campbell and Will; grandmother, Doris Brown; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends.

Services for Bill will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Greenlawn Church of Christ in Lubbock, TX, with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will hold a visitation today, January 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.
