Goddard was defeated in their duels on Saturday: Belen, 72-12; Socorro, 54-21; Grants, 53-12; and Valencia, 39-2.

Goddard wrestling coach Nick Archuleta says, ”We lost all our duels because we only had five guys out of 14 weight classes. We have a couple recovering from injuries. We saw a couple of teams we are going to be up against in district. We have a good idea about what we need to do to qualify for state, and what we need to work on. The district meet is in two weeks. Very proud of these guys and how they wrestled on Saturday. We are taking big steps to make state placers. These guys work hard and take a beating. They have their eyes on the prize and setting their goals high.”

Goddard’s Seth Diaz wrestled at 182 pounds and went undefeated on the day at 4-0. Junior Julian Quintero competed at 132 pounds and was 2-2.  Senior Austin Langley wrestled at 152 pounds and was 3-1 in his matches. Eighth-grader Aidan Werts wrestled at 160 pounds and was 2-2 on the day. Eighth-grader Devin Spicer-Lucero also finished 2-2 in the 220-pound weight class.
