On Wednesday, members of the Pecos Valley Quilters program, Quilts for the Heart, brought a variety of quilts to the Assurance Home — a facility for at-risk youth. Assistant director Alycia Wright welcomed the PVQ members and its director Carol Ann Moorhead. The quilts were draped over the chairs in the little chapel that belongs to the compound, ready to give comfort to 14 children who are currently living at the Assurance Home. “We always bring more so the kids can pick out their favorite,” PVQ member Jennie Kammeraad said. Agencies benefitting from the quilters include CASA, the Shelter for Battered Adults, nursing homes and individuals in need. The group meets once a week on Wednesdays at the Roswell Adult & Recreation Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, visit pecosvalleyquilters.org or call 575-623-3774.
