Hope Babek of Roswell practices using a stun gun to defend herself as a participant in a one-day Saturday course called “Women’s Self-Defense and Victim Prevention Seminar” taught by a former police officer and held at the Roswell Chamber of Commerce. “The objective is not to turn them into full-fledged ninjas,” said Tom Clarke, “but to teach them that, ‘Yes, I can do this and I don’t need to be a victim.’” Clarke, who worked for Montana and Alaska law enforcement agencies for 20 years before retiring to Roswell, now runs TBK Tactical to train law enforcement personnel on investigative and tactical operations, and Front-Strike Self-Defense and Survival, which provides training to individuals.
