Two Roswell boys escape from Albuquerque detention facility

Two youth from Roswell left the Albuquerque Boys’ Reintegration Center Monday night.


Randy Torrez and Jose Lopez, both 16, walked off the facility grounds at 9 p.m. and are believed to have been picked up by someone in a vehicle and possibly taken back to Roswell, according to a press release issued by the New Mexico State Police.

Lopez was placed at the facility on charges related to unlawful possession of a handgun, while Torrez was under the supervision of the Reintegration Center due to charges of aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm.


Torrez is described in the press release as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 180 pounds, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. Lopez is a Hispanic male, 4 feet 11 inches tall and 100 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the location of either of the youth should contact the New Mexico State Police at 505-841-9256, and choose option 3.
