The Chaves County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a late February stabbing.

Information is being sought on the Feb. 23 stabbing that happened during a cock fight at an unknown location south of Roswell, according to the release.

Deputies had been dispatched to an area hospital at 11:04 p.m. that night.

The victim was a 26-year-old male from out of the area who had been at the cock fight with friends. A friend of the victim — also at the party — was punched by an unknown person and when the victim stepped in to stop the fight, he was stabbed, the release states.

The victim was then transported to the hospital by friends.

After interviewing the victim and witnesses, detectives were unable to identify a suspect. Because the victim was from out of town, he did not know the location where the cock fight had taken place, according to the release.

People with information about the incident are asked to contact the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office at 575-624-6500 or Chaves County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-594-8477.
