Letter: The Roman Empire is nowhere to be found

Chaves County Resolves to “break the law.” I thought Roswell and Chaves County were part of the United States but I guess not. The elected officials of New Mexico are passing some laws that some of the citizens feel are unconstitutional or they just don’t like! Imagine that!

Instead of doing what the Constitution allows and taking the matters to a court of jurisdiction, we have a governor who won’t support the president’s border security plan; we have a state congress and senate who think we don’t have a right to bear arms; we have the sheriff and his deputies, who have taken an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the State of New Mexico, parading around like vigilantes saying they won’t enforce the laws here in Chaves County.

Tit for tat seems to be the rule in politics now. Sanctuary cities, counties and states are all violating the Constitution of the United States of America when they thumb their noses at laws that are properly enacted.

Without rule of law, The United States will fall. If you don’t think so, just look around for the Roman Empire.
