Spring River Park & Zoo will be hosting an Arbor Day event on April 6.

The free Arbor Day event is slated from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the zoo, 1306 E. College Blvd.

There will be a planting ceremony at 10 a.m., as well as a proclamation from Mayor Dennis Kintigh. A tree seedling giveaway with two trees per person is also planned.

Smokey Bear, New Mexico’s Tree Man George Duda and Chaves County Extension Office representatives will be at the event. A flyer from the city of Roswell also noted there will be donuts and coffee, as well as master gardener information.

Some of the activities include a scavenger hunt and peanut butter pinecone making.
