April might be tax season, but downtown businesses want you to have a fun, relaxing time, instead of a taxing time, during the First Friday event April 5.

The shopping, dining and entertainment event starting at 5 p.m. and coordinated by MainStreet Roswell is scheduled to have music performances, pets or exotic animals, kids’ activities and a massage chair. Some businesses, including Once Again Consignment, will even offer tax-free shopping. Others will have First Friday discounts, free admissions or other special offers.

The evening’s activities start at 5 p.m. at Reischman Park, 308 N. Main St., with music provided by DJ Hendawg. Performances by Jani Kosturski and local middle school musicians are also planned.

A free professional mini-massage will be available by KM Therapeutic Massage, which will have a massage chair in front of Sippy & Opal’s Ice Cream and Sweet Treats, 327 N. Main St.

Kids’ activities include a free nature journal craft project sponsored by the Kids in Arts Programs (KAPS) in front of Tascosa, 321 N. Main St.; refreshments and youth-oriented activities at Barringer’s Blossom Shop, 314 N. Main St.; and a free art project as well as information about pet adoptions and Camp Invention scholarships at the Gallery and Main Street Arts, 223 N. Main St. An exotic animal from Runyan Ranches Rescue Zoo is also expected to visit She’s a Dandy, 302 N. Main St.
