Shades of giving

Roswell’s version of Purple Day on Thursday means raising toys and funds for Royal Family KIDS of Roswell so that foster kids can enjoy a summer camp experience in July along with a special birthday celebration. Several local restaurants are raising funds on Purple Day and throughout the month, and businesses and individuals are leading donation drives as well. Here, camp therapist Kila Williams, volunteer Harmony Gedde, Classics Frozen Custard co-owner Tim Miller and camp director Tabitha Denny staff a toy and funds donation station at the restaurant on North Main Street. This year, the organization wants to send at least 70 kids to camp. Last year, about 65 attended. Roswell’s organization, supported by local churches, is part of the international Royal Family KIDS group. More information is available at purpledayroswell.com. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
