Holey Landscape! — Guadalupe Mountains Annual Youth Poster Contest

Guadalupe Mountains National Park, in partnership with the National Cave and Karst Research Institute, invites all young artists between the ages of 6-17 to participate in its fourth annual Youth Poster Contest. This year’s theme focuses on karst and its importance in the natural world. Interested artists can download the 2019 poster contest entry form on the Guadalupe Mountains website.

Trinity Site Tour

A tour of the first atomic bomb site. Participants drive their own vehicle to the historic site in a caravan. The caravan starts at Tularosa High School Athletics Field parking lot (behind the school), 1305 Eighth St., Tularosa. at 7:30 a.m.

ECSP Rodeos Flag Rider Tryouts

ECSP is looking for flag riders to carry sponsor flags during its events, as well as parades. Tryouts start at eCSP Arena, 1601 E. Greene St., at 6 p.m. sharp.

Tryout has to be on the horse or horses that will be ridden and be owned by the rider as well as tack. Horse must be healthy and sound. Competitive riders have to have their own straw hat.

The 3K and 5K color Me Run/Walk takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Harry McAdams Park, Jack Gomez Boulevard. There will be games and prizes, obstacle courses, food, music and face painting.

California Guitar Trio concert

The California Guitar Trio performs at the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center, 310 W. Main St., at 7 p.m. Since 1991, the California Guitar Trio has enthralled listeners with a singular sound that crisscrosses genres.

The trio’s questing spirit drives it to explore the intersections between rock, jazz, classical and world music. It even throws in the occasional surf or spaghetti Western tune for good measure.

EcoServants and the village of Ruidoso Parks and Recreations finish opening the Fisherman’s Trail.
