David Janzen, center, helps MESA (Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement) students at Goddard High School on Wednesday afternoon with their safety inspection and “mock stage two” in the SystemsGo New Mexico rocketry program. The final rocket launch is scheduled for mid-April north of Jal. Janzen had taught SystemsGo at Loving for two years and said the program offers “a different self discovery” and it is noticeable when students take ownership of their learning. Not pictured, Dave Willden, the executive director of the Pecos Valley Regional Education Cooperative which oversees SystemsGo, said 150 students from 10 schools attended the inspection at Goddard High School on Wednesday for the inspection to streamline the flight readiness review — allowing “to come in ready to go, so they can just fly through it on launch day.” (Alison Penn Photo)
