Roswell Police obtained a criminal arrest warrant Wednesday for a man who faces charges in relation to a Tuesday night shooting.

Thomas Leyba, 42, of Roswell is wanted on charges of aggravated battery and possession of a firearm or destructive device following a Tuesday night shooting of a man at the 500 block of East Tilden Street, according to a press release from the Roswell Police Department.

The victim, a 36-year-old man, was hospitalized in critical condition Tuesday night. Todd Wildermuth, public information officer for the RPD said Wednesday afternoon he does not know the current medical status of the victim.

Roswell Police were dispatched to the scene at 8:15 p.m Tuesday, where the victim was found lying in the front yard. The release states investigators believe Leyba and the victim were arguing in the yard before Leyba fired at least one shot at him.

Police want any information that could lead to the whereabouts of Leyba. The release states Leyba is also known by the names Tomas Leyba, Tomas Luevano and Smiley Leyba.
