Future Skills Program for Youth

A free Future Skills Summer Program begins June 10. The program, utilizing the equipment and resources of the iCenter, is opened to students in the sixth through 12th grade and will continue for three days a week for three hours each day through July 19. The days of the week and times are still being finalized.

According to Irina Galassini, Engineering and Design Technology instructor, the students will rotate through different activities each week while using a laser engraver, 3D printers, a vinyl printer and a heat press.

“Depending on the students’ skill levels, we may break them into beginner and advanced groups to give some kids an opportunity to start learning and others to develop advanced skills. We’ll also have little presents for them to take home, like designed T-shirts and dog tags they will work on themselves.”

Galassini added that the program will include building and working with programmable robots, drone flying and two levels of 3D modeling.

For more information or to register, contact Galassini, 575-624-7335, or Raif Henri, iCenter Coordinator, at 575-624-7236. Students also can register at https://fusemakerspace.org/intel-future-skills/future-skills-enmu-roswell/.
