Josephine “Tina” Washington, age 71, of Roswell, NM passed away, Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church 700 E. Summit, Roswell, NM with Reverend Artis Allen officiating. A private interment will take place.

Josephine daughter of the late Clarence McNeil and Roxie Lee Odom, was born November 25, 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico.

She was united in holy matrimony to Ernest Buckham and Robert “Wash” Washington, Jr. She married her love Wash in August of 1980. He proceeded her in death.

She attended public school in Roswell. Josephine attended ENMU-R nursing program where she became an LVN in 1981. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for 21 years; during the last 20 years she worked for Chaves County Joy Center, Peach Tree Village, Sunset Villa Nursing Center and Esperanza Developmental Services Inc. The past few years she had the privilege (job) of taking care of Mikela and her brother. She cherished them like he own. Josephine was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she was an usher. She often served as an usher for many funerals and events.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Roxie McNeil; sister, Roxie Lucille Berry; husband Robert Washington, Jr.

Josephine cherished her son Clint. She supported him in all his sports and other endeavors. She received certificates of appreciation along the way. She loved working for JOY Center. She cared for and enjoyed attending to all of the seniors. She loved driving the van because she love talking and sharing stories. With a smile you will never forget, Tina loved life and she loved people. She like to shop and even own a thrift store. She collected many things and could most often be seen wearing some kind of hat (she had a lot of them). Tina could be very outspoken. Her unique style and colorful personality made her a source of joy and laughter for family and friends.

Her life will forever be precious in the lives of her children: Ernest “Clint “ Buckham of Roswell, NM; Angela Michelle Smith, Tersia Rochell Smith and a son of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Mishallan Shanae Santana Gonzales Buckham of Roswell, NM; Jakniquie Vanshay Smith Duncan; grandson, Germacus Smith Duncan; Terrena Leon Smith, Trenara Louis Smith, Germanl E. Smith, Payton Louise Moor all of Houston, TX.; Nyvieah Gonzales, Renzo Mendoza, Zaven Mendoza great-grand children of Roswell, NM; nieces Detra Tabb and children, Denise Reese and her children, Porshia Reese; nephews Richie Berry all of Abilene, TX and Jeffery Berry of AZ; sisters, Elnor Irvin, Bernice Howard; brother, Robert Howard. The love of her life Gidget Diana Washington, her dog. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank everyone that Tina will be remembered and treasured in all our hearts forever.
