A fire that has been burning along the Pecos River has grown in size, consuming 780 acres southeast of Roswell, according to the New Mexico State Forestry Division Saturday morning.
More than 70 personnel from multiple local fire departments as well as state and federal agencies remain on scene as they seek to contain the blaze.
Bottomless Lake State Park — located west of the fire — and at least one home in the vicinity of the fire remain under evacuation. Structures on the east side of the Pecos River remain under threat.
The Patterson Fire is one of three fires that are believed to have been sparked Thursday night by a lightening strike.
