Monterrey Elementary School students watch Roswell Fire Department officers, from left, Emergency Medical Services Chief Eric Mann, Lt. Kyle Wright and Lt. Derek Washichek show how the “jaws of life” equipment works. The demonstration was part of a public safety field trip Friday at the Louis Jones Training Facility on West Brasher Road. The Roswell Police Department, Chaves County Sheriff’s Office and Roswell Fire Department had trucks, cars and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) equipment at the facility. Kindergarten to fifth-graders were able to look at, sit in and use some of the equipment during the day’s event. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
