Students interested in a career as a nursing assistant can choose from either a daytime class or a new evening class this summer session at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell.

The daytime class runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday and the evening class runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Monday. The nursing assistant lab courses are offered at the same times on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Classes start June 3 and end July 26.

Students can earn a certificate of employability in nursing assisting. Nursing assistants are a valuable part of the healthcare team. They care for people who are ill or have impaired self-care capabilities. They work in hospitals, nursing homes or other home care settings under the supervision of a professional nurse in carrying out patient care assignments. Successful completion of the nursing assisting program qualifies as a pre-requisite for the nursing program.
