The Roswell Rotary Club recently awarded 23 scholarships and honored in person the 10 recipients who were able to attend the club’s weekly meeting. All 23 students will receive a $1,000 scholarship toward their future educational goals. All students graduated from Chaves County schools or were home-schooled. Selection criteria included evaluation of the student — including but not limited to higher education plans, future plans, academic history and community involvement. Interests being pursued ranged from Animal Science to Information Technology, with medical fields the predominant fields of study. All students were encouraged to complete their education and return to Roswell. Serving as chair of the Scholarship Selection Committee was Rotarian Olivia Standish and Chris Lauderman served on the committee.
