First Friday celebrates Father’s Day

0

June is the month to celebrate our dads and father figures, and downtown merchants want to do something fun to honor them for the First Friday monthly event organized by MainStreet Roswell.

This Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., participating merchants will have coupons good for two free donut holes, one for the child and one for their daddy or father figure.

Get a free coupon and bring it to Reischman Park, 308 N. Main St., to redeem for free donut holes, donated by Eli’s Bistro.

While at Reischman Park, people can enjoy music provided from 5 to 8 p.m. by the official First Friday deejay, DJ Hendawg. The event also will have a special performance of the Roswell Flute Ensemble from 5 to 6 p.m.

Kids for Arts Programs (KAPS) will have a table on Main Street near the Bank of the Southwest, with children able to make handkerchief dolls and pie-tin-punching crafts. Other nonprofits will be at various locations downtown with dummy calf roping, games and activities, free snow cones and popcorn.

Barringer’s will have a free craft project, snacks and specials for Father’s Day. Main Street Arts/The Gallery also will have a Father’s Day project for kids.

Stop by She’s a Dandy to meet furry friends visiting from Runyan Ranches. Also visit Dara’s Upholstery to meet Instagram pet celebrity “Angel, the toy poodle.” She will be there wearing her baker’s costume.

This month downtown merchants on Richardson Avenue, just a block to the west, are joining in the event. There will be free admission and refreshments at the Miniatures & Curious Collections Museum, 320 N. Richardson, and there will be a hot dog stand at Roswell Resale Emporium, 314 N. Richardson.
