Workforce Board awards contracts to ENMU-Ruidoso

Eastern New Mexico University-Ruidoso has been awarded three contracts by the Eastern Area Workforce Development Board.

The board also approved its grant budget for the upcoming fiscal year during its annual budget meeting Tuesday in Roswell.

The Ruidoso campus of ENMU will provide job training and employment services to adults and youth in counties including: Chaves, Curry, De Baca, Eddy, Guadalupe, Harding, Lea, Lincoln, Otero, Roosevelt and Union. It also will work with employers to determine needs and opportunities.

The contracts are for the 2019-20 fiscal year beginning in July and ending June 30, 2020. The adult and dislocated worker contract is for $975,000. The youth contract, which helps low-income youth ages 14 to 21, is for $800,000. The contract to manage the seven One-Stop employment services locations (also known as Workforce Connections Centers) serving the counties is for $150,000.

The total grant funds available to the Eastern Area Workforce Development Board for 2019-20 are $6,872,657. So far, $4,833,704 has been allocated, including the $1,925,000 awarded to ENMU-Ruidoso. That leaves $2,038,953 of currently unobligated funds.
