Wednesday’s guest speaker at the regular Sunrise Optimist breakfast meeting was Gail Landrum from the Assurance Home. Gail is the Assurance Home thrift shop manager and has been with the home for four years. Her inspirational and fact-filled talk explained the goals and objectives of the Assurance Home and how they are met in serving the youth that live there. She shared several emotional stories concerning the youth and their first-time experiences at the home. The home is open to youth 13-18 years of age, with occasional exceptions. She explained if individuals don’t have financial donations for the Assurance Home, they could always donate items to be sold in their thrift shop, located at 919 E. McGaffey St.

To find out more about the Sunrise Optimist Club, join them Wednesday mornings, 6:45 a.m., at the Lovelace Hospital cafeteria/conference room, or contact membership chairman Roger K. Burnett at 420-9420. They are always looking for members who are concerned with making Roswell a better place for our youth.
