Six local women have been recognized for their achievements as Dare to Be Her award recipients. The second annual awards event, co-sponsored by the Women’s Project, a United Way of Chaves County funding group, and WESST, a local Small Business Administration resource partner, was held June 18 at Antigua Cocina Mexicana. The recognition event organizers are, from left, Sherry Mumford of the United Way, Rhonda B. Johnson of WESST, Yasine Armstrong of the Women’s Project and Laura Weathers of the United Way. This year’s honorees, who were shown in a previously published photo, are Claire Chase (Trailblazer Award), Juliana Halvorson (Humanitarian Award), Amanda Mason (Entrepreneur Award), Susan Sanchez (Educator Award), Kelly Smith (Rising Star Award) and Barbara Yehl (Innovator Award).
