The property once used by the Glover Packing Co. is now owned by a Dexter family associated with an agricultural enterprise.
Assistance in the transfer of the land at 1007 N. Garden Ave. was mentioned as one of the accomplishments of the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corp. during the organization’s recent annual membership meeting.
Chaves County records indicate that a portion of the property that had been owned by Roswell Investment and Development Co., including the portion used as a meat packing plant, was acquired by A & Z LLC in late June 2018.
A&Z corporation is controlled by several members of the Ramos family, according to Secretary of State records, with the address given for them in Dexter being the same as the address given online for the Ramos Land and Cattle Co.
Voicemails left for Juan Ramos of Ramos Land and Cattle was not returned by press time. Neither the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corp. or the person who signed the warranty deed on behalf of Roswell Investment and Development Co. said that they could comment on the situation.
Once a major employer in the city, Glover Packing Co. ceased operations in 1981, with the site unoccupied since then.
The portion of the property now owned by A&Z LLC is about 15.1 acres and was valued by the Chaves County Assessor’s office in 2019 at $184,818.
