The search committee for a new president of a local economic development agency is expected to meet next week for an initial review of resumes.
Bud Kunkel, chairman of the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corp., and Project Manager Tawnie Honey said the committee plans to meet July 19 to review about 20 resumes that have been submitted for the position.
Members of the selection committee are Kunkel; Will Cavin, Chaves County commissioner; Joe Neeb, Roswell city manager; Tres Featherstone, oil and gas industry member and land developer; Christopher Palmer, Pioneer Bank president; Steve Dodson, lumber wholesaler; and Kurt Gass, commercial lending agency owner.
Honey said the group has received 14 resumes from out-of-state candidates and six from New Mexico people, including three from Roswell.
The group plans to have a president hired by the end of September.
The previous president, John Mulcahy, announced his resignation May 17, effective June 1.
A former Truth or Consequences mayor, he had been with the organization for about five years. He said he was making the decision to spend time with family and also to consult on some business development and economic development work.
The Economic Development Corp. is funded by the city, the county and business memberships and is one of the primary industrial and commercial economic development agencies in the area.
